It appears the JP server is a bit bigger, that icy Astro village is actually the prologue, after 5 or 6 quests you get sent off to Thereall which is where the US game starts. Copy 2 files over from the US client and the game is in English. There are a couple minor problems with some odd bits of text not being present but around 99% of it is fine.
