I actually had an idea last night, would anyone be interested in an Anime watching club?

So basically a group of us watch an anime together and comment in a thread after each episode. By watch together I mean watch separately on their own time, but we report back into a thread, ideally we don't go ahead to the next episode until each person has seen that episode. We could vote on what anime we pick each time. Basically like an old fashioned book club. Doesn't need to be a new or current series, whatever gets the most votes. We could take suggestions from anyone who wants to join, put them to the vote, and go from there.

I feel it might get us back into anime, it creates some activity again on the forum, sure its one thread but honestly that would be something right now. I am so out of touch on anime, I don't even know where to begin, so the idea of someone else, or the group choosing the series appeals to me.

I got the idea from 'Daft's Anime Hour' where he'd apparently co-watch a series with people live, although I don't have something that would do it live.
Book club type format sounds good. I finally got my move finished up about two weeks ago and have been slowly catching up on my gigantic backlog of everything. (DIY Remodeling sucks.)

I've mostly been watching the current season, but there's a bunch of stuff that aired in the last few years that would make for a good group watchlist. I was just thinking that it'd be nice to get back into reviewing stuff again.
- my Spring list: 1. FruBa F, 2. MHA s5, 3. IsekaiMaō Ω, 4. MiniDra, 5. Tensura D... - ongoing: 6. DraQue, 7. FGO/C, 8. Castlevania s4, 9. DBHBbM & 10. SMeternal :)

I actually watched Grand Blue recently, it was a good laugh and I started reading the manga for it. Also started reading a manwha called "..., I don't want to be married", I kinda didn't want to put the full title as it seems a little sus but the manwha is sort of like Hamefura.

Hamefura is getting a second season that airs next month, looking forward to it.

So I guess we should all suggest some animes for the group, and after some time or once we get some suggestions we could add a poll to make a vote on it.
So some of my faves that are oldies but good ones: Zero no Tsukaima, Your under arrest, Bartender, Fate stay night, Galaxy Railways (trying to think of some different ones there).
Also I have not seen Fate Grand Order but probably should, although i don't know the story post FSN UBW so maybe I should wait on that. I wanted to add the ones I started last time but did not finish, but I cant find them at the moment - one of them was some group going off to a planet as some sort of trip/training thing, and something happens on the surface. I only saw the first 3 episodes but now cant remember its name. Will edit this if I find them.

You should consider Fate Grand Order to be an alternate universe; the events that occur there have no bearing in what happened in any of the previous Fate Stay routes. If you want to know the full story then you need to play the game but if you don't want to pour your soul (and wallet) into a gatcha game I would recommend trying Fate Grand Order Camelot 1st Order movie first. The specials next and if you have the patience the 2nd Grand Order movie that came out earlier this year. The main Grand Order anime series deals with the 7th order. Where are the 3rd-6th order you may ask? It is all in the Gatcha game so go there if you are still intrigued by the story after watching all those series.

Suggestions I could make to the book anime club are Vinland Saga, Into the Abyss, Madoka or Psycho Pass. Rent a girlfriend, Monster Musume and Shinmai no Testament are all decent shouts if you are after harem animes.

now that i think on it, the nasuverse celebrated in a similar way to clampverse...
F/G Carnival (2021), ~Phantasm (‘11) vs. Clamp in wonderland (‘95) and 2 (‘06) :p

Should we aim for an era in particular if making suggestions? I've kind of felt like rewatching some of the older stuff like Claymore and Tears to Tiara.

My current watch list is pretty short- 86, The Saint's power is omnipotent, and Thunderbolt Fantasy S3. There's stuff I want to catch up on now that the move is done and all, but that's all I'm actively watching right now.

I currently watch Tokyo Ghoul Re and quite like the scene with Hinami so I use it as my wallie nowadays.

@monsta666
That does sound rather complicated, and as much as I love the Fate universe, I think I'll be skipping the wallet-emptying Gatcha game lol so I'll take your advice and go with the watch order (pun lol) you suggested.

@Ryu
I had seen that Carnival Phantasam OP comparison, and I do like it with my only negative comment is the lack of Rin on the new one lol. Yea I know Ishtar is kinda Rin but still a difference lol.

I think its fine for the suggestions to be anything, I litterally just had it as an idea to get us all watching anime again, be it old or new. The first one is going to be the trickiest to get going, because of finding the time to fit a new one in as many of us will be already watching something etc. Probably soon be about time to make a poll of the suggestions as we seem to have a good number already.

From what I have seen Night Head 2041 seems to be an improvement over its predecessor. If action is your thing then Peach Boy Riverside is a good shout also.
thanks for the heads’up In your review, going to try PBR after I finish Night Head... currently ep.11, while this Fall season began with a pre’air of Isekai Shokudō S2 :)
